I thought that the nightmare/hallucination he had while hiding away at the hotel would serve as a source of inspiration for his book, allowing him to take it in a horror/murder mystery direction, but ultimately, it was just necessary to help Liam confront his biggest fear: failure.
Chloe tells Clark that she researched Jonathan's cell phone records and that Jonathan and Lionel were in communication for weeks before his death, the last call coming an hour before he died. Clark realizes that Lionel was present the night he died and tells Lionel to meet him at the barn. Lionel tries to explain his and Jonathan's communication but Clark is convinced that Lionel killed Jonathan in an attempt to control Clark into becoming a weapon. He is too emotional to listen to Lionel's explanations and beats Lionel up as Jonathan once again appears at his side, encouraging him to kill Lionel. Lionel counters that Jonathan would never want Clark to kill anyone. Clark gains some clarity and blasts the vision of Jonathan away with his heat vision. They fight and when Jonathan gets the upper hand, Lionel approaches in a trance. He touches Jonathan and the apparition morphs back into Fine, then disappears. Lionel comes out of his trance, not knowing what just happened and Clark looks on in confusion.
Lionel arrives at the Kent Farm and admits to Martha that he did indeed talk to Jonathan the night he died to tell him that he knew Clark's secret. Lionel claims that Jonathan was so angry, he didn't let him explain. Martha does not reply and Lionel leaves, saying that at least he was honest.

Meanwhile, Andy Dwyer is shocked to find that his band Mouse Rat is playing at a bar without him, and performing songs he wrote. He confronts Burly and Chang about the band playing without him. They explain that they have called him numerous times over a number of weeks to try and get him to come to rehearsals, but when he never showed or responded, they still really wanted to play so they continued on without him. In response to this betrayal, Andy comes to the conclusion that he is going to retire from music and performes one final solo song that night to farewell his career. The next day, he arrives to work in a suit to symbolize his professional phase has begun. It is clear to everyone, however, that Andy is clearly not comfortable with his premature retirement, so a meeting is arranged with Burly to smooth things over. Burly admits to Andy that they never wanted to kick him out, so if Andy is willing to start practising again, they would welcome him back with open arms. Some time later, he is back as the lead vocalist, but having realized Burly has more talent then a back-up singer, Andy lets him join him as a second lead vocalist.
2. Just DessertsIt wasn't a great week to be a parent on the Upper East Side, especially not in the incestuous Rhodes/Van der Woodsen tribe. Things started off sticky when William blew Serena off in favor of brunching with Lola, whom he finally enlightened about her true heritage. Worse still -- and in typical "Gossip Girl" fashion -- Serena just happened to be walking past the restaurant where Lola and William just happened to be sitting right by the window for their emotionally fraught conversation. Elsewhere, Lily went full Darth Vader in a Chanel cape, paying off a nurse to testify against Ivy in order to have CeCe's will overturned, then masterminding a fence-mending dinner for Carol and Lola (with prerequisite press in attendance) to prove just how happy their family truly was now that their financial strife was resolved. But since the show has never featured a gathering that doesn't end in catastrophe, Lily ended the night confronting Carol and William about their affair, Serena forsook her father for choosing to cozy up to Lola after being such a crappy parent to her and Lily brought Ivy back to give a statement that would have Carol arrested for fraud, after her genius decision to hire Ivy to impersonate Charlie Rhodes last season. And you think your family dinners are awkward.
To compound matters, Lola went to Serena with an olive branch, trying to get her sister-cousin to rebel against Lily to get Carol freed. (I must have missed the part where there would be any logical reason for Serena to be so mad at Lily that she'd want to help out her crazy homewrecking aunt, since Lola's proposal seemed a little out of left-field.) When Serena declined, however, Lola found the Gossip Girl username and password, so I'm sure she plans to break into the site and wreak all sorts of scandalous havoc, because what else do these rich kids have to do with their lives? I must admit, if I were Serena, I'd be blacklisting William too -- although I would've expected her to warm up to Lola if the chick didn't keep trying to sabotage Serena's personal and professional lives for no real reason. In all honesty, Ivy is the one I pity most, since she genuinely (and misguidedly) wants to be part of the Rhodes clan, despite their inherent evilness. Maybe it's the fabulous hair. She even tore up the million-dollar check that Lily bribed her with, hoping to somehow get back into the ice queen's good graces.
Most batshit crazy outfit:Lorelai's vest in the previous photo is certainly a choice, but I hate her outfit in the final scene even more. If she wants to wear boob tape for Friday night dinner, that's her prerogative, but it seems like an awful lot of work for a meal with her parents. 041b061a72
